2025 Summer Movie Season - Monthly Recap (July 2025)
The Porter Report 2025 SMS July Recap
Happy hump day, followers. The biggest month of the summer season is officially in the books, and what a month it was. An incredible buffet of films was released, and for many, they are considered some of the year’s best. While things will surely slow down once we turn the page to August, let’s wrap up the month that was in our July recap.
Even after so many years, the Jurassic Park franchise continues to be one of the most successful cinematic draws. The latest installment, Rebirth, returned the series to its roots for better and worse in an installment that had the potential to be great but more times than not squandered a lot of it with decisions that were a detriment to the story being told. The franchise is still just as popular as ever, but this latest entry might be showing a lack of bite that needs to be addressed.
It’s a new era for the DC Universe as the age of gods and monsters has officially begun. In an age where so many people are in desperate need of hope and light, James Gunn gave us the cinematic return of the Man of Steel in the thrilling and uplifting motion picture event. In times like these, nothing is more powerful than compassion and kindness. Against the dark norms of our society, they are truly the definition of punk rock.
Marvel’s first family has had a long and hard road in their cinematic history. Thankfully, the struggle seems to be over as Ben, Reed, Johnny, and Sue settle into their new home in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase 6 of the multiverse saga began with a strong reintroduction of the iconic quartet that sets the stage for the road that will lead to the culmination showdown against one of the Heroverse’s most formidable villains. It took a while to get it right, but the Fantastic Four are finally given to us in a way that we can all be proud of.
