The Porter Report 2026 Summer Movie Season - July Preview

Hello everyone and welcome to The Porter Report Summer Movie Season Preview for July. I hope everyone has had a chance to catch their breath after a whirlwind opening month of the season. That should give you a clear indication of the madness and chaos that the summer movie season brings year after year. Crazy thing is that was just part 1. July continues the momentum with an explosive lineup of films that will light up the screen in a month that always brings spectacle and awe. This year is no different. Warriors, Minions, Wayfinders, and Webslingers headline July's slate as we hit the peak portion of the 2026 campaign. A barrage of big-screen fireworks is upon us, so let's get the full list of what is heading our way in Summer Movie Season Month 2

Illuminations' Minions and Monsters
(Universal
Pictures/Illumination Animation, July 1st)

Make It Monstrous

At the height of the roaring 20s, filmmaking is hitting all-time highs with so many directors delivering high-quality epics. One of the up-and-coming stars both in front of and behind the camera is the Minions. Aiming to take their cinematic talents to the next level, the Minions pitch a monster movie that will be one of the biggest Hollywood has ever seen. The problem is, they don't have the budget, methods, or resources to put the larger-than-life beast on screen. Resorting to the risky method of using an ancient spell book to bring forth their gargantuan stars, the Minions are about to send Tinseltown into full-tilt pandemonium. Illumination invites you to the movies for the next installment of the spin-off series set within the world of Despicable Me. The movie stars the likes of Jeff Bridges, Christoph Waltz, Jessie Eisenberg, Phil Lamarr, Zoey Deutch, Allison Janney, and Bobby Moynihan. It's lights, camera, action this Independence Day weekend when Minions and Monsters arrives in theaters on July 1st

I am always amazed at the number of things that comes our way in July regarding movies. Some of the biggest blockbusters of the year drop during this time and it looks like 2026 is going to be much of the same. As always, I live for this type of chaos and can hardly wait to experience everything Month 2 has in store for us. Be on the lookout for all of these films and more throughout this month and the remainder of summer movie season 2026. Until next time, have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend.
