| Scary Movie 6 (Paramount Pictures, June 5th) |
On The Offensive
The current cultural landscape is making it very difficult to have comedy-based projects to really push the envelope. The fear and anxiety of sparking backlash from people who are sensitive to topics that they believe should be treated more seriously has chained a lot of creatives who thrive off of boundary pushing comedy. There are those however who have no problem not only crossing the line, but they gleefully and intentionally make it their mission to hit everybody with the most outrageous and pearl clutching jokes that would make the most politically correct individual spontaneously combust. The masters of shock comedy are back for the latest entry in their parody series that is guaranteed to tackle some of the horror’s most iconic films but also deliver jokes that will probably illicit an email or 2. Shawn and Marlon Waynes headline the film with returning cast members Anna Farris, Regina Hall, Dave Sheridan, Chris Elliott, and Lochlyn Munro alongside a new cast consisting of Olivia Keegan, Sydney Park, Savannah Lee Nassif, and Cameron Scott Roberts. No one is safe and every line will be crossed when Scary Movie 6 comes to theaters on June 5th.
